I'd like to use this fancy new blog interface to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year from all of CantFitMyN. I hope you have a great start to 2009, and I look forward to fragging you all as soon as possible!

We're all settled in, the beers are flowing, and webvictim has the cake o' win :)
I've also updated the website to fix a few things, including new super widescreen(TM) mode - especially for you Aer.
The changelog for the website can be found
here.

I have lots of ideas in my head from time to time about this site, and until now they've been written down in a simple text file - not very helpful for anyone. It was getting too much for my poor little brain so now I've decided to write it down and let you lot comment about it :) If you have any suggestions for the site, found any bugs, or if you simply want to see what's coming up for the site, be sure to go to http://flyspray.cantfitmyn.net/ (you will need to register if you wish to comment).

Thanks to me failing slightly and misunderstanding the nature of apt-get and dpkg, the [CantFitMyN webserver has not been functioning properly since some time over the weekend. This was pointed out to me last night and, as you can probably tell if you're reading this, has now been fixed :-)

[CantFitMyN would like to publically congratulate YEGGSTRY for being our first Pyromancer.
He has achieved 1,000,000 (one whole million) pyro/burn points and joins 1.4% of the TF2 population.
Even although the heavy pack was released after the pyro pack, Pyromancer is still the achievement completed by the least number of players.
EDIT - webvictim, 17th November 2008
Since this post, A2 has also gained the Pyromancer achievement, and joins the same exclusive club. Congratulations to him too!

Well we're into week 5 now of the ETF2L, and to say it isn't going amazing is an understatement :)
Our communication has improved drastically from our first game, however we always seem to be on the back foot and from there we lose badly :( In order to take a step up we need to practice more on our aiming and a bit more on our teamwork, however we are mostly playing for fun - well, the fun you have for getting your ass kicked every time :p
We are currently played eight maps lost eight - but our next two matches are against clans that are just above us in the table. This might make it a more even challenge :)

So we've entered the prestigious European Team Fortress 2 League (ETF2L). We've given ourselves a skill rating of 2 of 5 which places in, what we've come to learn is the low+/mid category of skill.
The organisers have placed us in Division 5, group B againts what we hope are a bunch of level teams; it's always more fun to have a balanced match than to totally own or be owned.
Our first match against Gamingmasters Z Squad is already scheduled for Thursday 28th August at 8pm and we'll be playing our map choice of Turbine and their choice of Gravelpit.
One of the exciting things about the start of this tournament is that we've no idea what to expect of ourselves, of our clan mates or of the competition in general. But we all know what we're looking to achieve... 9 matches of fun over 9 fun weeks.
We'll keep you updated on our progress through this season of ETF2L via our matches page along with a touch of commentry on our blog. The best of luck to all our competitors in Division 5B.

For all you heavy lovers in TF2 it must feel like Christmas come early. The heavy pack, released last night, not only gives out three new weapons and 35 new achievements, but also a new community map, a new payload map and a new mode, arena! Valve's free content provides a refreshing update to a great game.
Having only had time to play Badwater Basin (the new Payload map) thoroughly I will say that this is a great new payload map. However, I found that the first three points were captured very easily, whilst the final terminus was a nightmare to get due to a chokepoint fairly close to the end. Of course this may be due to the fact that there were a lot more heavies than normal, but we shall see once the madness has died down.
The new achievements seem fairly straight forward in normal game play, they just require a bit of time and patience to do them. After spending 90 minutes last night, I managed to get 9 achievements and a significant amount on a lot of others. There are several that are easier to get at this point during normal gameplay (Pushkin the Kart, Stalin the Kart and Soviet Union), so if you're going to aim for any in the next few days, go for these ones :) Most of the others simply require a certain scenario (or map), however I can see the following three requiring some grinding and some luck:
Kollectivization: Get 1000 assists
Division of Labor: Kill 20 enemies with a Medic assisting you, where neither of you die
Krazy Ivan: Kill 100 enemies while both you and your victim are underwater
If you're looking for a place for normal game play, a place to enjoy yourself and a place to get your heavy achievements, you can't go much wrong than our public server at tf2.cantfitmyn.net:27015. Come on and say hi :)

So i34 has finished, and we are back to the normality that is everyday life. Need moar LAN :( Here's the official [CantFitMyN win/fail list for the event... Win - [CantFitMyN and the whole of our section - Werewolf until 6am in the hostel - Awesome "Omm nom nom" poster - The huge range and great prices of food & drink sold underneath said poster - General lack of queues at the bar - The Crucial girls and their stand in the exhibitor area - Rock Band - The Jokers - Gemma Atkinson starting a mexican wave for us at the Rock Band final <3 - The pub quiz and all the screen-related antics - Attacking Wizzo with a Fail sticker during the pub quiz - Internal IRC network and the good times had on it Fail - The lack of showers, the queues for the ones there were, and the lack of cleaning - The CS:S players next to us yelling way too much in rage - Noisy, inconsiderate and overly messy people in the campsite - Bar closing early Sunday night - EA putting Rock Band away far too early - Not enough Strongbow in stock at the bar - The amount of grenades flying around indiscriminately - "Fagballs" breaking the TF2 tournament rules and making us default when we were winning decisively with 15 minutes to go - Insufficient security patrols We all enjoyed the event massively, it was a huge success. Can't wait for the next one now - possibly i35 if we can get hotel accommodation (as it'll be too cold to camp nicely in November) but if not, then i36 in March 2009 :)

What Saturday night would be complete without the traditional pub quiz? :)
With a pint in our hand (apart from MissSpoons with the trusty pen) we started the quiz, 8 rounds of challenging questions and intriguing twists. Win stickers go to Kit (fictional round knowledge), Mushroom (audio round) and Noctu (general knowledge), as we came 5th overall - our best place in the pub quiz, and only two points off third place! :D Well done to all involved, and sorry to MissSpoons for my over-zealous answering in your ear :)
I now fear that with the t-shirts and "fail" stickers placed on Wizzo we may not be as anonymous as we were before :)

We have learnt many things today:
1) Noctu can't sing
2) Markb can't inflate SamWangs
3) A2 can't type
4) Markb can't display the correct resolution
5) Phil^ isn't sure if he's spelt his own name correctly
6) Phil^ can't arrive before anyone else
7) Mushroom can't stay awake
8) DEATH2 fails at PC existence
on the positive side though:
1) MissSpoons interacts with celebrities
2) MissSpoons got a Mexican Wave to go round the stage almost twice
3) Everyone has arrived and no major PC breakdowns yet. (apart from those previously mentioned)
4) The bar is -STILL- open!!!
